This book is about personal goal setting for one’s journey as they incorporate fly fishing into their lives for what will hopefully be a very rich life. Many are the outdoor sports books that describe technique, location, and such. I have not seen any about goal setting. California’s first covered bridges came to be due to the gold rush and played a significant role in the state’s development. Many survive to today and give us a glimpse into the past, as well as serve as focal points for local events. This book is an introduction to these bridges, their past, and other places or events to visit nearby. I hope reading this inspires many to visit and enjoy these little recognized icons of the past.

While waiting for the release of my book California Covered Bridges Pre 1900, a wildfire destroyed several California towns and one of the bridges described in the book. This book is a tribute to that bridge and its impact on the community. The proceeds are to be used to help the community recover.

Unlike any other sports books, Fly Fishing Challenge is a collection of ideas for a budding or current fly fisher to challenge themselves and keep their interest up in the sport both while fishing or when cannot. Hopefully the process improves the fisher's skills and confidence and perhaps will choose to help others enjoy the sport as well. Many suggestions may apply to other life's interests as well!
