How wonderful to imagine what it would like to view what individuals have seen from this bridge since it was constructed prior to WWII. I would imagine such a process would be like rediscovering photographs from your old photo albums that you haven't seen in a long time. That thought has focused my attention on capturing, not just appreciating, the images I have seen from this location from my daily walks over the years. What follows is a collection of photos from my early morning walks around downtown Hattiesburg in May 2009. The downtown emerged in the late 19th century, before automobiles and electricity. As it turned into the 20th century, the town's first "skyscrapers" emerged, shaping the contour of the city, which are visible from all locations in my walk. I have selected 14 of these images for this e-book.

In this monograph I have selected some of my photographs of downtown Hattiesburg, Mississippi. They are primarily from 1968 -- 1969; I was 25/26 years old at the time. This was the Hattiesburg business district still concentrated in the location where it was originally formed. It was pedestrian friendly, populated by many wonderful small businesses, and had a unique local flavor.

For over a decade I was strongly inspired to capture images/feeling in my painting that were drawn from my formative years in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, and this extended train of thought manifested itself in a body of work called The Bay Reverie Series. These images became personal "icons" that evoked a sense of time, place, and culture.

On the 22nd of October 2017 nature created dramatized lighting and color in the downtown during my early morning walk, the kind of lighting that one might see in a painting or theatre production. Twenty-three of these images were selected for this e-book.
