格律诗是具有一千多年历史的中国诗词的一种形式。格律对一首诗的句数，每句的字数，何处应用押韵都有规定。格律诗还对句中每个字是平音或仄音也有要求。平仄的要求，是写格律诗的最大挑战。格律诗提倡包括拟人，夸张，比喻，讥讽，诙谐，设问，无理，引典，双关，言此及彼，宜曲不宜直等特点。西方的拼字游戏（word puzzle）是将字母填进一矩阵中成字，喜者众多。从某种角度说，写唐诗填宋词就是按严格的规则将汉字填入矩阵或多边形中，没有固定的答案，但可能会出现许多有深意的结果，是更有意义的文学游戏，作者和读者均可从中得到不可言喻的快感。写格律诗一般认为要用文言文，要写的古色古香，才有韵味。但这样的要求，可能会使格律诗的时代性受到局限，如果适当地将现代的语言以格律的形式及特点写入诗中，应该会使格律诗更有生命力，进而引起更多人的喜爱。如书名所述，本书的内容就是笔者用古格律写现代诗的尝试 ...
